West Ham’s David Moyes hails a third straight European Championship quarter-final as a “brilliant achievement”.

The Hammers recorded their biggest win in Europe when they beat Freiburg 5-0 at the London Stadium.

They are in Friday’s draw for the last 16 of the Europa League, the first time in three consecutive seasons that they have reached this stage.

Moyes admits he couldn’t have imagined the progress West Ham have made since then.

“I am very happy to be able to give Cheap West Ham football jerseys kids something,” he says. “I didn’t want to manage a team at the bottom of the league. I wanted to manage a team that challenges, and we’ve mostly done that.

“The club has developed a lot in recent years. We’ve avoided relegation, got into Europe, won a trophy and reached a quarter-final. It’s a brilliant achievement. It’s hard to say how good it’s been, and we’ve also brought in some very good players.”

One of the newest is Kudus.

The Ghanaian star has not been the most consistent player since joining from Ajax last summer.

But even with the tie already secured, he set the London Stadium alight with a superb double.

Kudus’ first effort was a solo run through the centre of the pitch that the Freiburg defence failed to stop. The second was a brutal shot that the Freiburg defence had no chance of stopping.

“The first goal reminded me of the classic dribbles of the wingers who used to run at defenders, with nimble hips finding a way through,” Moyes commented. “It was a fantastic individual goal – it reminds me of Roy of the Rovers.”
